What Colors are Dogs Attracted To?
This is an easy project that involves dog treats and colored paper. Line up five sheets of red, green, blue, yellow, and purple colored paper and place a dog treat on each one. A dog should be waiting on a leash but out of sight of the paper and treats. Once the paper and treats are set up, the dog should be brought in front of the treats and released. Stop the dog once it chooses the first treat to eat and have the dog removed to the waiting spot again. Replace the treat and rearrange the order of the colored paper. Release the dog again when you are ready. Repeat this at least five times to see if the dog is attracted to a particular color first.

Is Your Dog Right- or Left-Pawed?
Dogs, like humans, have a dominant side for completing tasks. Verify if your dog is right- or left-dominate. Use a dog toy and place a small treat inside. Place the toy directly in front of the dog. Observe which paw the dog uses to reach for the toy first. Once the dog has reached for the toy, give the dog the treat and reset. Complete the experiment as many times as your dog will allow and see if a pattern has been established. Test other breeds of dogs to see if there is a difference.

Can Dogs See Color?
Design an experiment to determine if your dog can differentiate between colors. First, make a hypothesis as to whether or not you believe your dog can see colors. Then, create a way to test that hypothesis. For example, you may get a red tennis ball and a green tennis ball. If your dog chooses the red tennis ball, he gets a small treat. Continue to offer him the choice of a red or green tennis ball and see if he begins to choose the red tennis ball consistently to earn the treat. Keep track of his choices each time and the number of attempts. Report on your findings and whether or not they confirm your hypothesis.
