Introduction:
The Roman period started in753 BC to 27 BC and then from 64 AD to 1453 AD. Rome was founded by Romulus. Romulus was the first of the seven Roman kings. The seven Roman kings are,
Titus Tatius, is as follows: Romulus, Numa Pompilius, Tullus Hostilius, Ancus Marcius, Tarquinius Priscus, Servius Tullius, Tarquinius Superbus. No historian doubts the existence of the last three kings, since there is clear evidence of their reigns in Rome. So basically, when Rome was founded, that's when the Roman period started.
The Romans were VERY smart but cruel people.
The Romans:
As I said, the Romans were renowned for their rapacious behaviour. Killing for fun, stealing and all the other cruel things they did for their entertainment. Take the example from Spartacus' story; I can't imagine, a SINGLE Roman feeling guilty for just snickering and snorting at that poor man.. just hanging there. On the crucifix. ( If you are wodering, Spartacus was crucified along the Appian way which is basically the only road that leads out of Rome. The Via Appia Antica is the old Roman Appian Way, one of the oldest and most important roads from Rome. During ancient Roman times, the road was essential in transporting troops down to the port of Brindisi in southeast Italy. ) Romans were very, very smart people. They were skilled and intimidating, frightnening but very powerful soldiers whom, speaking of which, won many many battles and defeated tribes, armies.. you name it! The last battle was indeed, ferocius and intense. The battle of Argigentum. The Battle of Agrigentum, in 261 BC was the first major engagement between Rome and Carthage. It was the start of the Punic Wars that would last well into the 2nd century BC. Rome won the day after a long siege, kicking the Carthaginians off Sicily. It was the first Roman victory off the Italian mainland. I bet you, if you were one of those forceless Carthages you would be dead. The Romans as I said, were one of the most skilled fighters back in the day.
