I think cell phones should be allowed in school, only in the kid's backpack though, not in the kid's hand.
One reason I think cell phones should be allowed is because emergency purposes. Even though the teacher can call the child's parents, the kid should also be able to do it with their phone if the teacher is in the bathroom or not inside of the classroom. All kids with phones should have it in their backpack at all times on mute. If the parent calls and the class hears it, it'll be a distraction.
Another reason I think cell phones should be allowed in school is because maybe the kid would have to call their parents for a reason, if they forgot their lunch or something while the teacher or someone else is not there or in a place where the kid can't go, again.
The next reason is if the parent has to call their kid. Even though the phone is probably on mute, the kid might somehow notice it. The parent might call their kid for an emergency purpose.
The last reason I think cell phones should be allowed in school is because to report someone like a bully or something while, again, the teacher is not around, even though the kid might be able to get a teacher from far away, but then the bully or someone could do someone else bad while the kid is searching for a teacher to report to.
