#MotivationMonday - I found this to be true when it came to big goals I needed to work on but would only focus on the easy, less challenging tasks. Eventually the "putting it off" habit trickled down to even the things that weren't that hard. Those bad habits were starting to form in other areas of my life as well. I started making excuses why something couldn't get done. "Oh, I had to do this, that and the other." My mentor helped me to see that it wasn't lack of time but lack of direction. Also, that I struggled with "perfectionism", if I couldn't do something 100% I just didn't do it at all. You know, that all or nothing thing. In a sense it was like being afraid of failure, so I just didn't touch it at all. It took me a while to see the value in doing 'something' rather than nothing at all. I didn't realize that small steps still move me forward and closer to the goal. At the time I just didn't see it being effective enough. Until my mentor helped whip me into shape. I was instructed to create a schedule; time I'll get up (which started between 7/7:30am) and time I should be done washing up, time I'll eat and finish, time frame I start and end my online studies, work on music, write, do vocal-warmups, workout etc... it all had a start and finish time (with 10-15min of break time after each session to prevent burnout), and if I completed the entire "to do list" and still had plenty time in the day left over then I would go back over the list and give time to anything that needed extra time. If I was working I still had to have a schedule for after work. Now, I haven't always stuck to the schedule 100% - we all have days we fall off the wagon but the important thing is to get back on. Never settle for mediocrity. Never grow comfortable with 'just enough'.

Currently, when I'm attacking my goals I'm not as productive if I don't give myself a 'time schedule'. After applying this to my life I see how we can easily waste precious days - time that we'll never get back. So, now that I'm on top of the small things, it helps me stay on top of the big things. I can vouch that how we do ANYTHING is really how we do everything. #HappyMonday!
