My eyes were pretty red from crying by the time I got to the residential school. My siblings haven’t said much about their experience there, but from what I know it doesn't sound like a lot of fun. Right, when we got there our brother was separated from us probably because he’s a boy. First, they took us in a single file up the stairs to the dormitory and assigned us each a bed and a number I was 94 and my younger sister was 95. After that, we were told by an older girl who basically helped us understand what to do like an interpreter that we must put our clothes on the bed and undress for a shower. I must admit I felt kind of weird to not be wearing clothes with people around me, but I knew I was going to have to get used to it. The shower room had multiple shower heads on the wall beneath each one there was one button to turn it on and off. Once all the showers were on and all the girls including me were under one the three sisters who were in charge of us told us to put or hand out and poured this green coloured soap for both our body and hair into our hands. When the shower was done instead of wearing my clothes, which they took away, they gave me new clothes with black and white horizontal stripes that were marked with my number (94) on them. All of my belongings they took away except my diary (you) which they don't know about.
All the close they have given me was marked with my number even the towels the only thing that they didn’t put my mark on was the bedding. Next, the sisters took us (obviously in a single-file line)to get our hair cut which I was not excited about. My hair is about three inches past my shoulders and they cut my hair right above my shoulders. My younger sister (which I'm starting to realize I see more than my older sister) had really long hair, that was also cut above her shoulders. When we looked at each other we smiled, we both looked so different, it was kinda funny.
