Notes - notes.io

You've probably heard this term many times before, but do you know what it means? The word "integrity" means the state of being honest and trustworthy. Academic integrity means that all your work is completed honestly and that your instructor can trust you to complete all your work on your own.

Upholding academic integrity means:
Your work on each assignment will be completely your own.
Your collaboration with classmates on any assignments will be pre-approved by your instructor.
You will not allow others to copy your work.
You will not practice plagiarism in any form.

What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is a specific kind of academic integrity violation. When a person plagiarizes, they copy or use ideas or words from another person, classmate, or an online or print source, and present those ideas as their own.

Some examples of plagiarism include:
Turning in a paper from a research service, term paper mill, or "free term paper" website
Turning in another student's work with or without that student's knowledge
Turning in a paper that a peer has written for the student
Copying a paper from a source text without proper acknowledgment or citation
Copying materials from a source text and providing proper documentation, but leaving out quotation marks
Paraphrasing material from a source text without properly citing the source
Every student enrolled in our online courses, including you, is required to adhere to our academic integrity policy. Your instructors will use a variety of methods to check your work for authenticity and make sure it's your own. That includes speaking to you about the coursework you've completed, and even requiring face-to-face exams, if needed.

Be very careful. Not only will any violation of our academic integrity policy result in disciplinary action and risk your ability to receive academic credit, but you would be cheating yourself from gaining the important information and skills taught in this course.

Not learning this material could put you, your friends and family, and your fellow road users at risk, jeopardizing everyone's safety.

If you're not sure about something, ask your teacher before you use outside sources or collaborate with a classmate. We want to make sure that before you hit the road, you've learned everything there is to know to guarantee that you are a safe and well-informed driver.
