Bismillahirrahmanirrahim,
Fellow delegates, honourable chair, brothers in faith;
For decades, Egypt has been a safe haven and a home to many different religions and cultures. Today, %10 percent of our population is Coptic Christian. We are aware of the fact that more cultures make a nation richer. And as proper Sunni Muslims, it is our duty to protect them and incorporate them into our people. Also, the Arab Republic of Egypt would like to remind the fellow delegates that we always prefer to stand with our Muslim brothers instead of Western nations that are attacking them. We are more than ready to find effective solutions to these topics.

In 2006 Egypt's Supreme Administrative Court made a clear legal distinction between "recognized religions" (i.e., Islam, Christianity, and Judaism) and all other religious beliefs. This ruling effectively delegitimizes and forbids practice of all but the three Abrahamic religions,[37] and made it necessary for non-Abrahamic religious communities to either commit perjury or be denied Egyptian identification cards (see Egyptian identification card controversy), until a 2008 Cairo court case ruled that unrecognized religious minorities may obtain birth certificates and identification documents, so long as they omit their religion on court documents.[38]

When Amr ibn al As conquered Egypt from infidels in 647, he allowed Coptic Christians and Jews to continue their beliefs as protected people. Since then, we live in peace.

We have Orthodox Coptic Church of Alexandria as a holy place for Coptics. We maintain it well, and we protect it of course.








Motion 1: Motion to a moderated caucus to discuss about minorities’ political rights.
The political rights of religious minorities has an important role in integrating them into our people. We would like to give some recommendation from the ways we use. We can have Islam as state-religion and we can also recognize freedom of belief and religion. Of course it’s not for all the religions, we won’t have toleration for atheists or something. It’s for Abrahamic religions which are Christianity, Judaism and of course, Islam. It’s forbidden in our religion to kill innocents, so we let them live. Of course we have limitations about them, for example we don’t fund their construction of churches or synagogue as we don’t think this is our job.
