önemlidir. İsmet Özel’in şiir yazmaya başladığı dönemin edebî oluşumunu
incelemek; şiirini anlayabilmenin ve değerlendirebilmenin, poetikasının nelerden
ibaret olup neleri dışarıda bıraktığını kestirebilmenin ön şartını oluşturmaktadır. O,
hangi ayırıcı niteliklerle hem önceki ve hem de ait olduğu kuşaktan farklılaşmış,
hangi birleştirici nitelikler sayesinde bu edebî geleneğe dâhil olabilmiştir? Bu
sorunun cevabını verebilmek, dönemin edebiyat ortamına daha yakın bir bakışı
gerektirir.
Şairi belli bir dönemde etkileyen dış şartlar, onun varlığı üzerinde sosyal,
kültürel, ahlakî ve fiziksel bir baskı uygularlar. Böylece şair, kendi varlığını dil
aracılığıyla duyurma ve yine dil aracılığıyla dünyayı kavrama ihtiyacı içerisine girer.
Bu özellik, bilhassa İsmet Özel’in şiirinde tam anlamıyla fark edilir.

şairler, Türk şiirinin modernleşme sürecinde önemli bir yere sahiptir.
