İlkokul beş sınıftan oluşmaktadır. Okuma,yazma öğrenimi, ana ve temel bilimler, yabancı dil, sanatsal ,görsel ve sportif faaliyetler, toplum ve birlikte yaşam dersleri beş sene boyunca çocuğu ortaokula hazırlar. Bu beş sınıf şunlardır :
CP (Cours Préparatoire): İlkokul birinci sınıfdir. İlkokul hazırlık sınıfı şeklinde ele alınabilir.
CE1 (Classe Elémentaire 1): İlkokul 2.sınıf
CE2 (Classe Elémentaire 2): İlkokul 3. Sınıf
CM1 (Cours Moyen 1): İlkokul 4.sınıf
CM2 (Cours Moyen 2): İlkokul 5.sınıf
İlkokul öğrencileri için bazı özel sınıflar da mevcuttur.
CLİN (Classe d’initiation pour non-francophones) sınıfları ülkeye gelen ve Fransızca bilmeyen öğrencilerin kendi sınıf dersleri haricinde devam ettikleri sınıflardır.
CLİS (Classe pour l’inçlusion scolaire) sınıfları ise ciddi derecede öğrenme zorluğu çeken öğrencilerin yönlendirildiği sınıfları teşkil ederler.Bu öğrenciler öğrenme güçlüğü çekenler, zihinsel, görsel veya işitsel engelliler olarak farklı gruplara ayrılırlar.
