Mary Slessor was born on December 2nd 1848 she had four other siblings she was born in Aberdeen Scotland until she was 11 when her family moved to Dundee Scotland so her father could get a new job but during that time she needed to get a job at a local mill so her family could pay her rent Mary also worked at the church a lot at age 27 she was still working at the mill but not for long she got good news that she would be working as a missionary to Calabar which is in Nigeria she want to school to be a missionary for 2 years she worked in Duke town for three months now she was going to be going to Creek town for sin months in till she finally got to go to Calabar in Calabar she stopped a lot of their bad customs such as pouring hot oil over one's body as a punishment Mary Slessor also stopped people going to the witch doctor Mary also made people stop believing that twins were evil Mary Slessor also stopped the blood shed between the Okoyong and the Ako's and other tribes Mary Slessor was known as the the White Ma everyone loved Mary. Mary died on January 13th 1915.
