*The Italian peninsula was a cluster of loosely connected regions rule by different individuals. By 1870, it was a different story. Italy became a unified nation
*Britain saw form in an agricultural revolution that allowed farms to enclosed large areas of lands which meant they can grow crops (like cotton).
*The textile industry grew stronger but this industrial revolution meant fewer people were needed for farms which pushed them to cities that needed them.
*The industrial revolution even grew all the way to the United states and Japan
*Factories and crowded cities brought pollution. Working conditions in factories were dangerous. Many thought the population was in worse shape than before
*The reform movement was created to solve societies problems. Movements began in England and the United states.
*The movements were for Women's rights, working conditions, child labor laws, health, education and even the abolishment of slavery
*Reform movements even reached non-industrialized countries like Africa and Asia. Asia pushed Industrialization, job creation and military might. The African movements sought to celebrate African culture and value. As well as unite all people of color
*The world of art was also affected. Romanticism artists depicted the beauty of nature before the industrial revolution. Realism artists made art pieces of how the industrial revolution affected mankind and even depicted life in the colonies of the worlds industrial powers
*By the 1900s, most colonies gained independence from imperialist powers
*Industrial Revolution + Enlightenment = Socialism, Capitalism, and Communism
