Persona 5 AU 2

So basically, this is an AU that takes place in the Persona Universe. The series is based on Japanese Psychology, and each game tends to have different themes. The Persona 5 game is based on freedom, liberation, and justice- the characters realize they're living in a twisted system, and can't live without it, and wish to escape out of the life of potential slavery to this system. Here are a few other things to go over so it won't seem as confusing as well.

Daily Life- Most of the main story takes all over the course of the year. They all must balance high school life and saving the world. Outside of saving things, the main character also can do several other things, such as take on part-time jobs(as money is important while in mementos as well), exercise, play baseball, go out with friends, and go to restaurants. Shuichi(as he is the main character in this verse), lives up in the attic of the cafe his guardian(Hajime) owns.

Hearts-Basically, whether they are an NPC or a regular character, they all have hearts. Some of these hearts become so twisted with desires that they form shadows- which are basically alternate versions of themselves which demonstrate their true evils within, or their true self. Some have more minor things- like if they took bullying someone too far, stalked their exes, etc. These shadows aren't as bad, but if left untouched, their desires can become more twisted and convoluted and can become a castle- which isn't good. If their heart becomes a castle, then it means it's more tricky to retrieve it their heart due to the layout of it. The shadow of these castles tend to be twisted- whether it because of abuse, heavy guilt carried over the years that they didn't let go, plagiarism, or abuse on others, these shadows are more hard to take on. Though, in order to take their heart(in a castle environment), they have to let the person out in the real world that they are going to steal their heart.

Personas-Basically, a persona is the person's "mask". Similar to a shadow(which are malevolent and manifestation of a person's inner thoughts), the Persona is tamed and trained. They are formed within individuals who find themselves in the metaverse who are dealing with feelings of frustration or being robbed. Should the person decide to rebel, their persona calls to them, forming a mask on them. If they rip their mask off formalizes their contract and causing their persona to take form.

Metaverse- The place where this all is within.

Mementos- This is the palace for everyone's hearts. Basically, the characters go on sidequests here to search within it for hearts that are twisted by desires but are not yet fully corrupt to create a castle, though there is still the potential of this happening if their hearts are not stolen.

Shuichi as Joker- Shuichi was convicted of a crime he didn't mean to happen. A man was attempting to rob a woman, and when he went to go and fight him off, the man decided to say it was an assault as there were no other witnesses to the crime and they ran from the woman's line of sight. He moved to Tokyo, Japan to live with Hajime and go to a new school. He eventually discovers the Metaverse later alongside Kaito, and eventually forms the Phantom Thieves alongside some others and becomes their leader.

Kaito as Ryuji- Kaito had a good mother, though his father was physically abusive towards both until he left for good when he was 9. He tried his best to stay out of trouble for her sake and eventually entered the Track and Field team when entering high school- where he met Haji. He was the coach of the team and began to regularly physically abuse the kids on the team, who didn't give him up since they were sacrificing it for the team. Eventually, Kaito attempts to confront him but Haji hurts him by breaking his leg and then ruining the Track and Field team, claiming self-defense and saying that Kaito was the one who attacked him. He's the most loyal to Shuichi out of all of them no fucking homo

Kaede as Ann- Kaede, compared to the others, has more foreign looks due to being a quarter American and often gotten out because of this- she eventually became a model further down the line and became more isolated at school. She became best friends with Sato, a girl who didn't judge her for her looks- the two had a good friendship until they reached high school. Sato played for the volleyball team, in which Haji coached, and slowly became more stressed over time. When Kaede was finally hitting current time(senior year), Haji became more interested in her to sleep with and began flirting with her. She at first declined, despite rumors saying otherwise, but soon accepted in order to get Sato to stay on the team- through a day after she attempted suicide. She became angry on the behalf of her friend and vowed justice on her part.

Angie as Yusuke- Angie is an overly eccentric art student who lived with a high-class artist all her life. Being a great artist herself, she is admitted into a separate academy from the others. She is generally cheerful, but slightly more "chill" and a lot less egocentric then the canonical version of Angie, though still seems to have "deep connections" with her culture.

Maki as Makoto- Maki is the student council president and hides her more violent side that thirsts for justice from others. People tend to see her as stuck up, due to being blackmailed by the principal with promises of ruining her older sisters reputation if she makes a wrong move. After the principal doing a big fucking die, she did what she wanted and went with the others- though also still attempting to appear proper most of the time.

Kiibo as Futaba- Kiibo is the son of a scientist who was dedicated to his craft. The scientist often worked relentlessly for this craft, though still loved his son dearly and tried his best to spend time with him as well... Though, one day, when crossing the street his father suddenly pushed himself out in front of cars and killed himself right in front of his 8-year-old son. Kiibo was passed from family member to family member for a while until he was 12, hearing their scorn on how her death was his fault and slowly gaining the weight of more and more guilt over the years. Eventually, his father's old friend Hajime finally got custody of him- Kiibo became a shut-in for nearly 4 years of his life after, his guilty burden getting worse until he finally got a castle himself, unknownst to him. He eventually got rid of these feelings when finally confronting his shadow's true form and getting rid of this guilt, and went to join the Phantom Thieves. He's also a genius in hacking and the reason why he came into contact with the Phantom Thieves in the first place was that he hacked into their messaging app in order to talk to them.

Haru as Kirumi- The daughter of a high politician who was protected and shielded all of her life. She comes off as more soft as she comes in normal-verse and had high expectations pushed on her all her life, so she often tries to carry herself with elegance when she can, though thinks of herself not as higher than the rest of the others.

Tsumugi as Akechi- A mysterious young woman who is a junior detective, and is investigating the phantom thieves. Though having a friendly and kind exterior she puts on for others, she seems to have a side she prefers not to show to others, though it's hard to say what it is. She also has relations to the prime minister himself and doesn't seem to be his biggest fan.

Rantaro as Mishima- A quiet, young man who was formerly part of the volleyball team. After the phantom thieves gave the first man a change of heart, he began to slowly learn how to stand up for himself and finally got out of his shell. He made a website dedicated to helping the Phantom Thieves, and is proud of trying to help them. The website often hosts comments in which people offer up those who need a "change of heart", and he often hosts polls or other things on it.

Morgana remains the same as he does in the normal Persona.

Hajime as Sojiro- a middle-aged cafe owner who takes no shit. He's straightforward and always gets to the point on most manners, and often threatens Shuichi with kicking him out if he steps an inch out of line, though eventually gets used to him and gets closer with him over time, to the point where he has more of a fatherly disposition towards him. Also the guardian of Kiibo, a shut-in who never leaves the room- he has no idea of the guilt the boy holds about his mother and is concerned about him, but does nothing to stop this behavior and still brings him food when he can.

Ichiko Ohya-Chihiro Fujisaki. A papparaza who is more or less desperate for a decent headline, and sometimes even twists headlines to make more money(though he does this rarely). He seems to have good intentions of wanting to bring grave crimes to the public's intentions and often talks to the owner of the cafe Shuichi lives in.

Tae Takemi-Seiko Shinohara: A mysterious young nurse who runs a shady business near where Shuichi lives. She sells medicine to him illegally due to still wanting to make money and even gets him into a contract to use him as a guinea pig- while in the contract it is revealed she had done something wrong that had gotten a past patient killed, which she carries guilt over, and had moved to the facility after and now gets rarely any recommendations due to her bad name. This turns out to be because of her employer, who panicked and actually pushed the blame on her when it was on his own fault.

Chihaya-Hagakure: A street-smart fortune teller who tells fortunes for cheap. He seems to be confident in his skills, despite being mostly wrong, but when finally getting something big right his vision and morals got distorted for a while until he finally became more confident again.

Kawakami as Chisa- An overworked and underpaid teacher, who is the homeroom teacher of Shuichi, Kaede, and Rantaro. She works a side job in a "maid" service, in which she basically works in a maid cafe that can send their maids off to clean people's houses. Despite the hardships of her life, she tries her best to remain optimistic.

Yoshida as Ishimaru- An ex-political figure that strives his best to be the prime minister, despite his past mistakes and the mistakes of his family. He tries his best to move on from these mistakes and wants to make a genuine change, unlike the actual prime minister, and often makes speeches in the public square.

Sae as Kirigiri- The older sister and guardian of Maki. Though the two get along decently, she is usually made to work long hours, and despite being a rookie, she is building up a citywide reputation as a famous detective. Despite only working two years in the force, she is the mentor of the "detetctive princess", Tsumugi Shirogane who is becoming a great figure herself.

Iwai-Fuyuhiko. A man who sells illegal weapons in a mysterious shop in a back ally. He doesn't seem to care much that this is illegal and seems to be satisfied that he does make such a profitable living out of this.

Caroline and Justine-Mukuro and Junko. The twin sisters of justice who protect the man named Igor. Junko takes more pleasure in messing with the "prisoner", or Shuichi, while Mukuro has a softer disposition than the other.
