This was before the Civil War, there was an argument about slavery. The Northern States believed slavery was a moral repugnant while the Southern States believed that slaves were born slaves and if slaves were not able to work the land the Southern Agriculture will become a minor commerce for the Southern States. The Southern-focused more on the consequences if slavery did not exist. For example, their commerce would go down and the Slaves might revolt and kill the white. The North focused more on the moral standpoint like how slaves are truly people. There was also the separation and distinction between the North and South agriculturally and industrially. This caused both sides to find the other repulse of ignorant. In the South, slaves started revolting because of ideals in the North. They wanted to reform the South into the North with true and free ideals. These new enlightened ideas started a reform which progressed into the Civil War.
