Walt Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 5, 1901. When he was a little kid, living in Marceline, Missouri, he had a love for art. As he grew up, he started taking art classes. When he was arriving high school, Disney's family moved to the big city of Chicago, taking more art classes. When he was sixteen, he wanted to assist in the army to fight in World War II, but he was too young, so he helped out in The Red Cross. After working with The Red Cross, Disney retrieved his passion for art. That's when he met Ubbe Iwerks, and he taught Disney animation. Him, Iwerks and other of Disney's friends made their first art studio, Laugh-O-Gram. They were popular, however, they didn't make enough money, so they stopped the business, but that didn't stop his dream. In 1923, Disney moved to Hollywood, California. He made another business with his brother, Roy, and named it Disney Brothers' Studio. He also hired Ubbe Iwerks. They made a new character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. All of a sudden, Universal Studios took control of the Oswald trademark and brought all of the animators, except for Iwerks. Disney had to start all over again. He decided to make another character named Mickey Mouse. He was the first animator to have a film with sound and coloration. When people heard that he was going to make a long film, people thought that he was crazy! Just because people was thinking that way, it didn't affect him. He made the animation Snow White. After working on many animations, he wanted to turn his animations to life with theme parks. It costed $17 million to build. It was completed in 1955 and it was named Disneyland. After the making of Disneyland, he wanted to expand his imagination, so he planned a theme park in Florida called Walt Disney World. He died on December 15, 1966 before Walt Disney World was finished in 1971. His theme parks are still popular today.
