If you are a small-to-medium business with global content distribution requirements and a need for protection from DDoS and other web-based attacks, CDNetworks should be a serious contender for you, particularly if you have an interest in addressing the Chinese market

As its name suggests, CDNetworks is primarily a CDN, but has a growing security portfolio. The company has been developing its security services since launching a DDoS mitigation service in September 2014. This is a managed always-on service, with PoPs in the US, Europe, and Asia through which traffic is routed for filtering. CDNetworks has also offered for several years a DNS service that it now groups under its security offerings. In early 2016 it added a WAF service via a partnership with US tech developer and service provider Zenedge, whose technology it integrated into its infrastructure for this purpose, and in late 2017 it added Bot Manager, another service based on Zenedge technology. CDNetworks’ route to market is primarily direct sales, but it does use channel partners in countries such as Russia, Turkey, and Indonesia. The company does not disclose the size of its customer base. CDNetworks offers API acceleration services but not API security. The company says it has, however, held discussions with Zenedge for such a capability

Any enterprise with a web audience in multiple locations can benefit from using a CDN, but if your users are likely to download lots of stuff from your website, play media files, and/or watch or listen to live broadcasts, you are likely to benefit most.
