Once upon a time, there was a turtle named Jess. She loved playing with her friend Tess, and eating jellyfish. She loved the place they lived, the ocean. She loved the colours of coral, and the different fish types Tess and her swam by every day. One day, when the two turtles were playing, they decided to go hunting for their favourite snack, jellyfish. As they were hunting, Tess thought she had seen a jellyfish, and went to go eat it. Just before Tess ate the jellyfish, Jess saw that it was a plastic shopping bag. "Stop!", Jess yelled, but it was too late. Tess had already ate it, and was suffocating. Jess tried to help, but couldn't do anything. She tried to call for help, tried the Heimlich technique, but nothing was working. In the few seconds she had left, Tess shook her head. They both knew there was no hope. Jess's last words to her best friend, since being hatched were, "Just know before you go, I'm going to miss you, and no one's going to replace you, ever. Best friends forever." After those words, Tess was gone. Jess couldn't hold it in anymore. She cried and cried until she couldn't cry anymore. The next couple of weeks went by slowly, until Jess got the idea to keep Tess's memory alive. When she went to school that day, she explained her idea to her teacher, Mrs. Green. Mrs. Green thought it was a great idea, and explained it to the class. When they got home, they explained it to their parents. The parents explained it to their friends, and so on, until the entire seven seas knew about it. On the day which would've been Tess' birthday, all the sea turtles in the world found a piece of litter, swam to a beach, and placed the litter there. Since the humans didn't notice, they kept repeating these actions. Finally, a family on vacation in Florida noticed, took a picture, and sent it around the world via social media. Soon, the turtles created a worldwide ban against litter. Canada took it one step farther by banning every type of litter. Jess finally found a way to keep Tess' memory alive. Today, Jess made a new friend named Kess, and every turtle lived happily ever after.
