My love of english has stemmed down from my grandparents on my mother’s side, they are both very well spoken and at a younger age I spent a lot of time with them. This was at the point of my progression where I would have been highly susceptible to the way in which adults around me spoke. Due to this I have always looked forward to english lessons. When I started college I found that knowledge of english language really started to expand. English always seems to be the lesson that I find I make the most contributions personally. So to continue furthering my writing skills and to write more creatively would be perfect to me. Both my mother and sister went to coventry so after asking them much about the university I am convinced that this is the uni for me. I have more recently found myself interested in wartime speeches, so for my IRP (independent research project) I have chosen to ask the question if politicians have changed the way in which they use language in wartime in the past up to now. In year 5 I found myself struggling with maths and english so my parents enrolled me in an extracurricular club called Kumon, this really helped me get on track with my english and made me more confident in the subject. In year 11 my english teacher, Mrs Begum told me she could see me furthering the study of english and being successful in that line of career, these words stuck with me since then.
