Golden Snitch merupakan sebuah bola berwarna emas dengan sayap silver yang berukuran sebesar kacang kenari. Merupakan bola terkecil yang digunakan saat pertandingan Quidditch, Snitch terbang mengelilingi lapangan dengan kecepatan tinggi. Tujuan seorang Seeker tentunya untuk menangkap Snitch, yang mana menghasilkan 150 points.
Pertandingan hanya akan berakhir jika Snitch tertangkap atau atas persetujuan masing-masing Kapten Tim. Dalam peraturan Quidditch, telah tercatat bahwa hanya Seeker dari kedua Tim yang boleh menyentuh atau menangkap Snitch. Pemain lain yang melakukannya dianggap melakukan sebuah pelanggaran yang disebut 'Snitchnip.
Dulu, Golden Snitch berasal dari Burung Snidget Emas yang diterbangkan saat pertandingan. Pada pertandingan tahun 1269, seorang Wizard's Council bernama Barberus Bragge mengeluarkan burung Snidget Emas ditengah pertandingan Bragge mengatakan siapa yang berhasil mendapatkan Snidget tersebut akan diberi reward 150 galleons. Seiring berjalannya waktu galleons ini diganti menjadi points, Itulah asal mula Snitch.
Namun, karena Snidget merupakan Satwa Gaib yang dilindungi. Maka terjadilah pergantian Snidget menjadi Snitch. Seorang ahli logam bernama Bowman Wright-lah yang menemukan Golden Snitch yang sekarang di gunakan.
