- what happens ch. 5: talks a lot about wine, then introduces m defarge and mme defarge, who own a wine shop on the corner. (they have 3 customers, which later they're found trying to open m manette's door?) a guy comes in to talk to m defarge and then introduces jarvis + mme manette. they are taken up many flights of stairs to see m manette. m defarge and jarvis talk about m manette but don't include mme manette (why?). they reach the top to see the customers from downstairs trying to open the locked door (i think?). m defarge shoos them away and opens the door very aggressively, they see m manette
