I think whatever age you are, if you have access to social media it can affect you in many different ways. Most of the time people say that because teenagers are vulnerable at their age and they have the most access to social media, they get influenced by it the most. They need to think about what they are doing to themselves, whether it be dieting or bad habits, so they do not continue to hurt themselves which could potentially affect them as they grow older. The problem is that the media has many opinions and we just listen and follow them because we think that they are right even without proof. Some people that have lost or gained weight that have negative body images of themselves will think that after they changed their body, they are still the same size as they were before. It is because of the mentality that they have of themselves and that can take a significant amount of time to recover. People’s standards for themselves are more strict towards themselves than to others and it would be best for them to first love themselves for who they are and however they look like. At the end of the day, you do not need somebody else’s permission or opinion on loving yourself, especially the media.
