She takes her breath in this new world- and time.
The rooster that once crowed morning is gone.
Oh has anything ever been as fine?
The world has grown. She is simply a pawn.

Walking down to the kitchen, food awaits.
Such food, in mere minutes past daybreak?
Yet, where is the talk? Where is the embrace?
The emptiness becomes lurching heartache

Only- they are? She looks once more.
They’re here- yet their minds are not even near.
It is quiet- yet leaves more to ask for.
Silent, buried tensions make her afear.

Silently, she watches, she listens, she knows.
For, hidden behind their screens, is untold woe.

on her family’s face is shown great weight.
she senses heartache shift into emptiness.

she prods at them, and their emotion pours.

she listens to their life's deep narration.
forgotten ambition and fear stain their story.
dreams damaged with future expectation.
as tears damage word-filled papers with worry.

wordlessly, she stands. she listens. she finally knows.
