Thanks for writing in.

We understand your concern that you're facing an issue with your product 'Redmi Note 5 Pro (Black, 64 GB)', and are sorry for the trouble you have to go through.

We'd like to let you know that the below are the basic troubleshooting steps that may resolve your issues with product:

* Basic Checks

The battery drains faster when you use the device for:

- Intensive use of basic functions like calls, browsing etc.
- Navigation or GPS for long periods of time.
- Intensive camera use.
- Watching a lot of videos.
- Playing graphics-intensive games.
- Using apps for long periods of time, like Facebook and WhatsApp (The screen is on all the while).

* We requested you to Restart the device.

Smartphones are just like computers. They have Processes and Services running in the background and need a restart regularly (At least once a week). If these processes and services are running for a long time without a restart, they may cause issues.


- Restarting your device gives it a fresh start and is sometimes all you need to fix your issue.

*Press and hold the Power button on your smartphone to Restart the device (If the restart isn't available, turn Off and then turn On your smartphone).

* If you want to know how long the device has been running, follow the steps below:

- Open Settings
- Scroll down and tap About Phone (If you don't see this option, tap System and then proceed)
- Tap Status
- Scroll down and check Uptime (The time listed here is in hours. Anything above 168 hours needs to be restarted.)


* Check battery temperature

- Click on the URLs in each step to view the screenshot
- Open the phone dialer
- Dial *#*#4636#*#* to open the testing interface
- Tap Battery info
- You can now see the Battery info, like Health and Temperature.
- The battery voltage mentioned in the image is just for reference. This varies from device to device.
- Battery Temperature: Anything below 50° C is considered normal. If it's above 50° C, choose the appropriate option below.


* Check app battery usage

- Pull down the notification panel and open Settings
- Scroll down and tap Battery
- Tap Power and then Battery use
- In this list, check if any third-party apps are taking more battery than normal
You can also swipe left and look at the hardware list to see if any of the components are taking more battery than normal
- Tap the Battery History icon on the top right corner of the screen.
- Check the Mobile network signal strength. Green is strong; Yellow is weak; Red is no signal. You can see the reference image to understand signal strength vs battery drain.

Note: The battery history resets every time the battery is charged to 100%.


* Update the app

- Click on the URLs in each step to view the screenshot
- Open Play Store
- In the search box, look for the app you want to update (In this example, it's Flipkart)
- If available, tap update
- Once updated, open the app


* Uninstall/ Install the app

- This might be an App or compatibility issue. If you doesn't need this app, please uninstall it and do NOT download it again.

* Uninstall App:

- Tap and hold the app you want to uninstall and drag it to the bin on the top. (In this example, it's Flipkart)
Tap Uninstall and watch the icon burst.

* Install/ Download App:

- Open Play Store
- In the search box, look for the app you want to install/ download. (In this example, it's Flipkart)
- Tap Install
- Once completed, tap Open

* Enable battery save mode

- Click on the URLs in each step to view the screenshot
- Pull down the notification panel and open Settings
- Scroll down and tap Battery
- Tap Power and then tap Battery Saver
- Toggle the switch to enable Battery Saver
- Check for an OTA update

* Things to remember before the update:

- Make sure that your mobile phone is connected to WiFi. (If Wi-Fi is the issue, you may use the mobile data)
Make sure the battery is charged above 50% or is connected to the charger during the update.

- We requested you to backup any important data, if required.

- Pull down the notification panel and open Settings
- Tap About phone and then System update
- The device will now look for an update.
- If available, tap update to start downloading.
- Once the download is complete, tap Reboot now.

* Perform a factory reset

WARNING:

- You might loss the data.
- If required, you can have backup data.
- Make sure the battery is sufficiently charged.
- If applicable, remove the SD Card from the device to prevent accidental formatting while resetting.


- Pull down the notification panel and open Settings
- Scroll down and tap Additional settings
- Tap Backup & reset
- Tap Factory data reset and then tap Reset phone
- Wait for the countdown and then tap Next step
- Wait for the countdown again and then tap OK


Note: During setup after the reset, please make sure you doesn't restore the settings. you can set it up as a new device. (Some Settings or Apps might be the root cause of the actual issue).

Also, we requested you to not to install apps from unknown sources like third-party websites or through SHAREit. Apps must be downloaded only from the Google Play Store.
