The summer after my 1st year of middle school in 2016. I had a very few numbers of friends at the beginning of school, later I became more social gained more friends. Anyway, after school ended, I was usually an active kid playing sports such as swimming and lacrosse. I always liked to bike with my brother and uncle. And since it’s summer, a lot of people are on vacation. Which means I'm able to spend more time with family and friends. Biking was good as “watering dead plants” and being active to have a pleasant ride around the city.

On one of the foggiest darkest days of a big city with lots of vegetation such as Seattle. Clouds felt like they were touching the ground, nothing visible, seeing dim lights of flashlights from above and below. I wanted to go on a bike ride by myself in the early morning where everyone is still in bed being all lazy. So being as silent as one can be like a raccoon, preparing food as if I were a parent but only for myself. Then I snuck out of the house with my bike, hoping that my mother would not notice me leave.

The road as the dead if a nuclear war was going on and a muted environment around me, just wheels spinning and drifting. Of course, there are cars but only a few at a time, I don’t go there though since I get very exposed by everyone in the city. Riding along the boundary of Eckstein Middle School on my bike dashing through many roads and many intersections which many drivers don’t follow. Mining my own business cars coming in awe honking rapidly, drifting quietly in a daunting way towards me. Barely anyone was on the sidewalk, turning to the music through my ears, realizing it sucks riding alone in the street. Rough roads bumping me up as high as someone jumping, fresh air and breeze passing inside and through my body. Going so nimble I pick up the speed of my bike than my music. I wasn’t even paying attention for a split second! Dead silent...

SRKT! Cars just pass by as if I were on the freeway. Fascinated how my bike was able to withstand a 15-mph hit, like if I just fell on my bike if I were younger. Holding my pain to myself, scratched up arm and heart beats in my legs, hurting like hell. “What a nice hit and run.” I shriek to myself. Blood now slowly dripping on my arm, not as severe as I thought it would, but blood was everywhere.

Usually, there would be someone to help me get up, but no one's available. I thanked God that nothing severe had happened to me. I am very surprised how my bike survived that hit, was very bent, but still able to function. Dragging on my bike since pain is pain, still hurt as if someone kept stabbing me on one side of my body. Deciding to ride on the main street, agony on my muscles on every pedal. Every faces in existence staring me down as I walk down the road as if we're in a spotlight on a show n tell. Looking at the drivers' eyes wide open of shock seeing a small kid riding with blood dripping out the back, and me while looking at them I give them a good old smile. Hearing one person shout out, “Are you, good kid.” Kept going didn’t want to talk to anyone till I got home.

Thinking all my trouble is gone, still aching. “Joey!” My Mother shouted. Rapidly replying, “Yes Mother!” My mother's voice sketchy if I’ve done something terribly wrong, probably that I have gotten up from bed at 7 in the morning. Hoping my mother doesn’t see my blood on my clothing and question what I have done. My clothes went from white to red, getting more stressed a second. Cracking stairs, mother rushing upstairs to check what I am doing. She saw my clothes and there I go. In trouble for having blood covering my t-shirt but me not telling my mother I got hit by a car. Did not seem as obvious as it seems as if I were fall off on cement. After explosions passed through my poor little ears, I am still shocked that I'm still alive after a small car crash not even noticed by anybody just me. I motivated myself to go to the bathroom to get a watery towel with alcohol, so all the bleeding can thin out, applying as much pressure as I could biting my lip straining my body of the pain of the alcohol rubbing on my injuries

Waddling to take a long great nap in my cozy bed to forget how screwed up the last hours were only in the morning, getting hit just for not paying attention for a split second and not knowing my surroundings, not being alert. Hoping that no one, but I will remember this incident.
