m-Indicator is a transportation related mobile application that primarily provides information about public transportation in the cities of Mumbai and Pune. It contains details about 232 trains making 3,000 daily trips through 108 stations on the city's suburban train network, it has 84000 timetable entries. The application has been downloaded by over 1 crore users. It was created by Sachin Teke an IT engineer in 2010 who is founder and CEO of Mobond Software Consultancy that owns the application. The application hosts a chat on which Mumbai's 75 lakh commuters share real time information about rescheduling or cancellation of train services.


The application provides the following features to the customer :
1. Schedules for suburban trains, buses, metro rail, mono rail and ferries.
2. Information about picnic spots in the vicinity of Mumbai, hotels, hospitals and movie and drama theatres.
3. Posts related to jobs and rentals.
4. Separate chat rooms for central, western and harbour line commuters.
5. Real time information on upcoming suburban trains and jurisdiction areas of various police stations and availability of free Wifi at a particular station, and in case of an incident, the location and police station under whose jurisdiction it lies, the names, addresses and phone numbers to be reached in emergencies, directions and information on how cyber crimes are to be reported.
6. Playing of audio-visual messages from railway police.
7. Platform number at which a particular train will halt and position of door from which to exit.
8. Information on cancelled trains.
9. Information on whether a train is slow or fast.
10. Facilitation of sharing auto-rickshaw or taxi rides.
11. A security system for women commuters.
It contains three wonderful features considering safety of women travellers:
Manual Emergency SMS: states location of user.
With one touch click on “Safety" icon on Homescreen, Emergency SMS of your approximate location can be sent to your near and dear ones.

Automatic location SMS: sent after 2 consecutive missed calls between 9 pm and 8 am from registered relative's mobile number.
Women in Mumbai are mainly unsecured during night times after 9 pm. Keeping this thing in mind, from 9 pm to 8 am if you receive 2 missed calls from the person whose number is registered in m-Indicator in place of Contact 1 and Contact 2, m-Indicator sends an automatic SMS to that person about her approximate location.

Avail immediate Help from RPF (Railway Protection Force) while traveling by Mumbai's local train.
To report the incident, you will have to click on Western or Central Railway - Helpline
A call to Railway Protection Force (RPF) control room will be connected, 1311 to Western Railway and 1275 to Central Railway on which you can lodge the complaint.
Simultaneously, in the interval of one minute gap, 3 SMS will be sent to RPF control room automatically from your phone. These SMS contain your approximate location, compartment and train information.
How Unique is it?
-It doesn't require GPS or internet.
-Keeping in mind that in most of the emergency cases victim is unable to access the phone, automatic location alert SMS facility is provided.

12. Child Lock-
It is to prevent children from accidentally clicking the Safety icon.
In Safety Settings click on Child Lock. It will switch ON/OFF the status of child lock
In case if child lock is enabled, when you click on Safety Icon on Homescreen, it will ask confirmation for sending emergency messages.
