@Intelligent Dude taught me this I used send my e-mails to supervisors at around 8:30-10AM at wherever they were located, I did this because these are the times an average working person would get into the office and read their mail to plan for the day. No evidence this helps anything but sha..

I really prefer this format because its simple and straight to the point, you state why you are mailing and you direct them to your CV, transcripts and letter of intent for further information. Saves both them and you precious time.
