Leadership is the cornerstone of all great organizations. Leadership is only one thing and there is a lot more to it. Now is the future and now is the time to plan. Organizations must play chess and not checkers which means they should know why they do things and take decisions accordingly. “Leaders are responsible for the culture in an organization”. There are four moves that enable high performance: Bet on Leadership, Act as One, Win the Hearts, and Excel at Execution. The code for the leadership challenge must be cracked or the other moves will never be executed. If there is no leadership, how can problems be solved efficiently? Second chances do occur in life and never should any chance be taken for granted. Every opportunity must be considered sacred since the world is extremely unpredictable. There will be people on leadership teams who may have had flaws in the past like an alcoholic addiction, but people with past problems should not be looked down upon, but should be valued for ridding themselves of the problem. Communication should be frank and forward and the truth should not be sugar coated; The truth is always better than a bad assumption”.”A leadership culture exists when leaders are routinely and systematically developed , AND when you have a surplus of leaders.” ”To create a leadership culture, we must forge a common definition of leadership. If different definitions are utilized, the potential will NEVER be met.” If a culture, in which growing leaders is a part of the DNA, you can always position yourself to win. The culture of any organization is nothing more than the consistent behaviors of its members. If one person feels bad, it spreads to everyone else; a bad apple destroys the entire batch. Everyone from time to time requires help and asking for help shouldn’t be looked down upon. Strategies should be held tightly and tactics should be held loosely. If an organization is well led, it just works. Similar to electricity. No one knows how it works but it just does. The number one reason most companies don’t have a leadership culture is their current leadership. You must be sure on which road you’re taking. If you are not sure on where you are going, you could be doing the right thing, but in the wrong direction. While mistakes are natural and expected, people naturally keep a close eye on leaders because of expectations. To Create a Leadership Culture… Define It, Teach It, Practice It, Measure It, Model It.
