Notes

I would contribute to Princeton in several ways. First, I am from Vietnam and I want to bridge the two cultures. I know there are several students from Vietnam at Princeton and can get team up with them for this effort.

Second, my combined interest in math and art, in particularly origami, is unique. I want to open an origami club at Princeton. To the best of my knowledge, there is no origami club at Princeton. I want to use my club to promote Asian cultures and arts in the school, and make it a place for student to relax and mediate after the stressful academic life.

Third, if Princeton gives me a chance, I will treasure its mission, which is to benefit and to give back to the society wherever I may go after I graduate.

Among more than 500 organizations on campus, if admitted, I would like to be a member of the Postcrypt Art Gallery and volunteer at the J.E.E.P. ESOL program. Additionally, I want to introduce my hobby, origami, to more people by bringing an origami club to Columbia. I want to make the club a place for students to relax and meditate after their stressful academic life.

There is math in art and art in math. That is how I see the world around me. Math is a subject that comes easy to me, but it is its intersections with art and other science disciplines that hold my interest. This is why I want to concentrate in Applied Mathematics at Brown, and also pursue courses in visual art.
