Cara untuk melawan Grindylow adalah dengan mematahkan cengkraman mereka. Faktanya adalah jari-jari mereka itu panjang dan kuat, tetapi sayangnya sangat rapuh. Mereka bertahan dengan memakan ikan, alga atau makhluk kecil lainnya, tetapi terkadang mereka bisa memakan manusia. Jadi tidak selamanya makan manusia.
Cara untuk melawan Grindylow adalah dengan menggunakan Revulsion Jinx yang di bawah air akan menembakkan air panas yang mendidih. Revulsion Jinx ini dilafalkan Re-LASH-ee-oh, dengan mengarahkan wand ke arah target. Hasilnya adalah melemparkan pancaran api ungu kepada lawan. Tetapi saat di dalam air, akan menembakkan jet air mendidih kepada apapun yang diarahkan oleh pemakainya.
