The Magic Mirror

(Mirror Mirror in the hall, what evil lurks within these walls? For this role, I'd love for you to have a mysterious tone to your voice, sound friendly yet menacing in your tone, get the viewer to question whether they can trust this character or not!)

(I'm fine with you using your normal voice ( the voice you used for your audition), however, if you'd like to add your own flair to this character then please, by all means, be my guest! This character is now your role and I want to hear how you feel the character should sound!)

(As for the sound effect instructions, please don't worry about them! I'll add the sound effects in when I'm mixing the voice files together, I just like having the whole script together so when it comes time to edit, It's all there in one file.)

(Once you are done recording, could you please send me it (in an mp3 format if possible) to my email: [email protected] The Due date for this project has been changed to October 18th, with October 20th being the very last day to hand in your lines.)

The Magic Mirror-VA: LivingSpirit

(In the background there is some mysterious music playing and soft giggling of other visitors to the carnival. Slowly fading out as the listener's footsteps grow louder, suddenly stopping in front of a mirror in a mirror maze/fun house)

Mirror- Hey...Hey you there...(A soft chuckle)

Mirror- Oh the look on your face...it's priceless...

Mirror- No, please, don't look so scared, I only want to talk to you, that's all...I mean no harm...

Mirror- There, that's it, now, how about we start off again?

Mirror- I am (Make up a name for te character!), keeper of the mirror maze...Who might you be?

Mirror- (Hums in thought) I see, what a beautiful name for a beautiful person...

Mirror- (A light chuckle) You want to shake my hand? Ha, I'm afraid I won't be able to do that...

(The Magic Mirror taps against the glass)

Mirror- As you can see, I'm trapped within the mirror...(Soft sigh)

Mirror- No this is not a grand illusion, I truly am trapped here...Oh!

Mirror- (Sounding a little excited) How about I tell you why I'm trapped here? Oh please? I've not been able to take to anyone in such a long time...People usually ignore me, or don't even notice me, yet you, you've seen me...Please allow me to at least tell you my tale before you leave?

Mirror- Oh thank you, you don't know just how much I appreciate it.

Mirror- I used to be normal, like you. Another young soul looking to go to the fair for some excitement and fun.

Mirror- I had been on a few of the rides at the time, and had...drank a few drinks when I stumbled upon what was once known as the witches den...I'm not entirely sure what they call it now...

Mirror- In the witches den, was a young looking woman. She told me that she could tell my future, or help me create a spell to help me become a better person...

Mirror- Half cut, I didn't think of the insults and slurs that escaped my lips. She warned me...but I didn't listen, I just continued on and on, mocking her in front of other people...

Mirror- That's when she lost it...She grabbed a potion from her shelf and threw it on me...The world went dark for me at that moment...and when I woke up...I was in here, the mirror maze...Turns out the witch wasn't lying when she said she was real...

Mirror-But, she did say there was one way out...Yes, she said that, if someone could see me in the mirror if they press their hands against mine...Then I could be free of my loneliness.

Mirror- Oh please, please, you're the first person I've been able to communicate within years...I beg of you, please help me.

Mirror- I'll never forget this, thank you. Now...

(Sounds of hands being placed on glass)

Mirror-Please place your hands were mine are...

Mirror- Yes, just like that...

(The sounds of glass starting to crack are heard...)

Mirror- Yes, yes it's working, just a little more...

(Suddenly the glass smashes, before it repairs itself, and a thud is heard.)

Mirror- Oh..you poor naive child...(A dark chuckle)

Mirror- You really thought a witches cure could be broken so easily? Without some sort of sacrifice?

Mirror- (Insane Laugh) I'm finally free, I can breath again haha!

Mirror- Oh but don't worry, switching places isn't so bad...Maybe the witch will take pitty on you...If she ever finds out you're here...

Mirror- But I do thank you...Now, I wonder what new rides the carnival has...

(Running footsteps are heard, leaving the listener alone now trapped in the mirror.)
