[The book won’t have anything about molestation, but I included that part in since it has the main idea which I want to implement]

book about a man, Theo, who is molested as a boy in the detention center by a guard, Mr. Gracie. Mr. Gracie physically and verbally abuses him but also protects him from the other boys. In this way Theo learns to associate abuse with affection and searches out Mr. Gracie’s replacement for the rest of his life

*The protagonist will have their child die of cancer when he turns 9
*The protagonist will try to make his child’s last days the best in a trip to Disney World
*The protagonist’s child’s last wish is her mom to be alive and with them
*The story will take place in the protagonist’s live time, we’ll see live from beginning to end
*The fear of death
*Fear of no after life
*Mom of protagonist dies when he’s 15
*Mom was a drug addict
*Protagonist regrets how he has treated his mom
*Wife of protagonist dies during labor
*Protagonist must try to connect with his son & daughter after the death of the protagonist’s wife during labor
*A girl that rejected him in 10th grade makes him fall into deep depression
*Protagonist is really smart
*Unlike most stories, he won’t just find “the” girl in the beginning, but he’ll date a bunch of girl, like any regular teenager for maximum realism
*His relationship with his dad isn’t too good since his dad is a alcoholic
*”Thank you so much for bringing Kellie into this world and into my life. You have made me happier than I ever thought possible or could ever hope to repay. I promise you I'll take good care of her.” She reached over with a trembling arm and took my hand. A tear trickled down her cheek. And just like that, she closed her eyes, her grip loosened and she slipped into unconsciousness. She passed three days later without ever awakening.
*she begged me to tell her other teachers and Mr. Sandos, our principal, that she would make up every assignment she had missed and then she made me promise that I’d give them the word. I promised. She asked me to insure that she’d get full credit for all of the work so she could go on to high school with her friends and her class. I again promised. (I wonder how many times she willed herself back from the illness and into class once again in this way.) Knowing that the day of return would never come, I fought with all my strength to hold strong, if only for a few more moments. I knew that the opportunity this young, beautiful and dying warrior would never come to pass and yet, I had to promise her that it would. I’ve never lied to a student since.
