Keluarga Spencer dulu adalah keluarga half-blood biasa yang tinggal di daerah Kyoto, Jepang. Ayah Spencer adalah seorang penyihir berdarah murni, sementara ibu Spencer adalah muggles. Ayah dulu juga murid Hogwarts, setelah beliau lulus, ia kembali ke Jepang dan bertemu dengan Ibu. Keluarga ayah Spencer semuanya penyihir, keluarga Ibu Spencer sengaja dirahasiakan agar tidak mengetahui bahwa keluarga besannya adalah penyihir.
Saat di rumah yang di Jepang, Spencer selalu diajarkan oleh Ayah Spencer mengenai sihir, sedikit-sedikit ia memberi dasar. Ia ingin Spencer bisa menjadi seperti keluarga besar Ayah yang rata-rata penyihir. Dan sebelum dapat surat dari Hogwarts, Spencer hendak melanjutkan sekolah seni, ayah Spencer menolak—karena beliau tau Spencer akan mendapat surat dari Hogwarts. Sekian.
