(scenery Soekarno membuka acara)
It took 56 years for the torch to come back to the country.
The people has changed
The town has changed
This, is a chance of a life time.

And I took it.

I worked in the IT Command Center as an IT & T Liaison officer. Basically, my job was to assist help desk staffs in relaying IT related problems to the vendors of Asian Games 2018. The problems were called 'tickets'. Those tickets came from other venue, both competition and non-competition venues. We need to pay attention, because sometimes, it was urgent.
In relaying the problems, most of the times I used Indonesian to talk to the vendors. But sometimes, I need to talk in English, because some of our vendors are not Indonesians.
1. SICC, the Koreans
2. TISSOTs, the Swiss
That being said, yeah, my workplace is a diverse place with a lot of vendors' staffs taking care of different kind of needs in order for the Asian Games to run as smooth as possible.
During my days as a volunteer, there are a lot of things that I've learnt. Some of them are: patience, compliance, and initiative.
Patience.
There are a lot of people with different kind of personalities and we're dealing with lots of them as help desks. Being able to communicate carefully without messing up with words is a must so that we don't end up in a dispute.
Compliance.
For two days, I worked as a back up behind the screen that aired competitions in one of Gelora Bung Karno's zone. One of the worker sacrificed tons of his own data when there's a sudden technical problem, so that people who came can watch competition together without hindrance. Even though, no one in that place knows about what he did for them.
Lastly, initiative.
Being able to take initiative is something that you need to train yourself to. Because at certain time when you're alone, you need to make decision. If you can't take initiative when an urgent matter comes, what will happen?
Actually there are a lot more, but I'll save them for later.

(Asian Fest scenes)
I worked right next to GBK but I only went 3 times inside. Two of them were because I got a duty there, so I didn't get the opportunity to walk around and to really enjoy the festival.
But at the last day of Asian Games, I went in the Asian Fest with my fellow college friends who took part as a volunteer too. I got to enjoy the Asian Fest and I think that it was lit. For 10.000 rupiah, it was more than worth it. I went to some zones and bought snacks until....
It rained.
But the excitement of people who came for the closing and people who came for the fest was magnificent. What was more is that I got to see it all with my own two eyes.
I can't express in words how it feels to be able to see the spirit of people for the Asian Games. But I think that the Asian Games 2018 is a success.
My work as a volunteer of Asian Games had ended. But The Asian Games itself has not end yet.
Let's make Asian Para Games a success!
