x+4=7 is the same as saying wich number must replace x so that the left hand side is equal to the right hand side.
we can see here that in order to have 7 we must add 3 to 4 because 3+4=7
This means that x=3
we have sloved the equation x+4=7 by analysis.
When we solve it algebraically we say:
x+4=7
move +4 to the other side
remember that when a number moves from one side to the other it changes it sign.
This means that x=7-4
7-4=3
therefore x=3
If want to understand math fundamentaly
you need to be able to covert real world problems into equations.
For example if i say to you: if ihave a total of 20 eggs and i cook some eggs and 15 eggs are left how many eggs did i cook.
Lets convert this into equation. let the eggs that i cooked be x. that means that eggscooked + remaining eggs=20
which is x+15=20
This is solve for x
x=20-15
x=5
This means that i cooked 5 eggs
