- Esta en peligro de extinción por el tráfico ilegal, tambien por un hongo llamado Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis que causa la quitridiomicosis, enfermedad infecciosa que puede llevar a la extinción.
- Su nombre científico es Phyllobates terribilis
- Esta en peligro de extinción normal en la lista roja organizada por la UICN
- La piel de la rana dardo dorada está impregnada de un alcaloide venenoso, común entre los venenos comunes a las ranas dardo, llamado batracotoxina.
