Camera, Heating and battery issue, Stock Android Troubleshooting - Nougat

Camera App issue:

Reboot the device:

Rebooting your device gives it a fresh start and is sometimes all you need to fix your issue.

*Press and hold the Power button on your smartphone to Reboot the device (If reboot isnt available, turn Off and then turn On your smartphone).

If you want to know how long the device has been running, follow the steps below:

- Open Settings
- Scroll down and tap About Phone (If you don't find this, tap System and then look for About Phone)
- Tap Status
- Scroll down and check Up time (The time listed here is in hours. Anything above 168 hours needs to be rebooted.)

Use the default camera app

Make sure the default camera app is being used. If you are using a third-party camera app, request them to use the camera app which came with the phone.

Clear Data and Force Stop the Camera app

Perform the steps below to the Camera app

WARNING: Inform you that uninstalling an app may cause app data such as game levels, saved passwords etc. to be lost.

1. Pull down the notification panel and tap the settings icon.
2. Scroll down and tap Apps.
3. Scroll down and choose the App you have an issue with. (In this case, we have shown the Flipkart App.)
4. Tap on Storage.
5. Now, tap Clear Data and tap OK to confirm.
6. Go back and tap on Force Stop and tap OK to confirm.
7. Now open the app manually and check if the app is working fine.

Reboot into safe mode

1. Press and hold the power button.
2. Tap and hold the Restart button on-screen
3. In the safe mode confirmation box, tap OK.
4. The phone should now reboot into safe mode. This can be confirmed by the safe mode icon at the bottom left corner.
5. Now, please check if the device has the same issue. Eg: If a particular app wasn't working correctly, open the app to check functionality.
6. Just reboot normally to exit safe mode.

Uninstall recently installed apps

If the issue goes away in safe mode, a recently installed app is most likely causing the issue.

- Restart your device to exit safe mode.
- Uninstall recently downloaded apps one by one to see if you can find the app that's causing issues. (see steps below)
- Once you remove the app that's causing the problem, you can reinstall the other apps you removed during the test.

2. Scroll down and choose Apps.
3. Look for the app you want to uninstall and tap on it. (In this case, we have shown the Flipkart App.)
4. Now, tap Uninstall and then confirm by tapping OK.
5. You should now see a confirmation that the app is successfully uninstalled.

Check for OTA update:

Things to remember before the update:

- Make sure the phone is connected to WiFi. (If Wi-Fi issue, you may have to use the mobile data)
- Make sure the battery is charged above 50% or is connected to the charger during the update
- Backup any important data, if required.

1. Pull down the notification panel and tap the settings icon.
2. Scroll down and choose About Phone
3. Tap System updates and then Check for updates
4. The device should now look for available updates.
5. If an update is available, continue to download and update.
6. The device will reboot once updated.

If there is no updates available, continue to the next step.

Perform a factory reset:

- Inform about data loss.
- If required, backup data.
- Make sure the battery is sufficiently charged.
- If applicable, remove the SD Card from the device to prevent accidental formatting while resetting.

1. Pull down the notification panel and tap the settings icon.
2. Scroll down and choose Backup & reset.
3. Tap Factory data reset.
4. Tap reset phone.
5. Draw the pattern or enter the pin if applicable.
6. Tap Erase everything to initiate the factory reset.

Note: During setup after the reset, please make sure you doesn't restore the settings. Set it up as a new device. (Some Settings or Apps might be the root cause of the actual issue).

Also, request you not to install apps from unknown sources like third-party websites or through SHAREit. Apps must be downloaded only from the Google Play Store.

Troubleshooting steps for battery and heating issue:

Basic Checks

The battery drains faster when you use the device for:

- Intensive use of basic functions like calls, browsing etc.
- Navigation or GPS for long periods of time.
- Intensive camera use.
- Watching a lot of videos.
- Playing graphics-intensive games.
- Using apps for long periods of time, like Facebook and WhatsApp (The screen is on all the while).

- Reboot the device

- Check Apps Battery Usage:

1. Pull down the notification panel and tap the settings icon.
2. Tap the Battery option
3. This will show you the battery availability & usage on your device
4. Select a service/component in order to view its battery usage
5. If required, tap adjust power use and change the settings to reduce power consumption
6. Check if any app is taking more battery than normal

Uninstall/ Install the App

Check if an update is available for the app which is causing the issue. If not, you that the app is causing an issue and uninstall it.

App Uninstall:

1. Pull down the notification panel and tap the settings icon.
2. Scroll down and choose Apps.
3. Look for the app you want to uninstall and tap on it. (In this case, we have shown the Flipkart App)
4. Now, tap Uninstall and then confirm by tapping OK.
5. You should now see a confirmation that the app is successfully uninstalled.

App Install/Download:

1. Push up the app draw and then open Play Store.
2. In the search box look for the app you want to download/install (In this case, we have shown the Flipkart App)
3. Tap Install
4. Once installed, tap Open to launch the App.

Check Battery History

1. Pull down the notification panel and tap the settings icon.
2. Scroll down and choose Battery.
3. Tap the battery graph to view a details.
4. Now, you should see the Battery History, a graphical representation of the battery discharge rate. Check the signal strength, awake and screen on time.

Note: This resets every time the battery is charged to 100%.
