Grigori Rasputin, who was also known as the "Mad Monk", was a poor mystic and an adviser to the Czar. Biography.com states that He was called to the court of Czar Nicholas II because of the fact that Nicholas II’s son was ill with hemophilia, and Rasputin was known to have mysterious healing power. Rasputin mysteriously succeeded in the act, and after this event he became the favorite of Nicholas’ wife, Alexandra. Rasputin's influence of Alexandra was suspicious to officials, and these officials kept on trying to warn her about him. They were also weary of the fact that he was just a peasant. However, she continuously defended him, saying that Rasputin was her closest adviser. On December 29, 1916, Rasputin was killed by a member of the royal family, hoping that his death would let the Royal Family out of political manners.
