“To defy death, I killed a god.”
Pre-Earth / Pre-Demon existence: Born in the halcyon people’s kingdom as the son of a high-ranking officer, he was raised as a soldier first and foremost, but his intellect would later set him apart and define him on his path in becoming the king’s advisor. Around the age of eight, he met the crown prince Aful, and they began to constantly spend time together as both friends and the next generation of leaders who would shape their kingdom. After celebrating Aful’s coronation ceremony at fifteen, he came to realize that he was developing feelings past those of friendship for his king, but buried such feelings, knowing they would never be accepted by Aful himself. Nevertheless, even as he kept such a secret, his love for Aful manifested in an unwavering loyalty and genuine care for the well-being of the king.
At nineteen, he succeeded his predecessor as royal advisor and began to work closely with army commander Pallas in addition to Aful as the halcyon people’s reputation as a reputable merchant and trader civilization grew alongside threats presented by bandits and robbers. Over the next few decades, as they worked together to ensure the safety of their people, Omid grew to slowly fall in love with Pallas, but never grew brave enough to admit it.
At sixty-seven, after Aful lost his right arm to a fight against the deity Alekto, Omid began to notice changes and irregularities in his king’s behavior that led him to suspect that something was amiss. In the midst of the king’s growing anxiety and irrational actions, Omid discovered the underlying plan that pushed him to plot towards betraying one of the people he loved the most. Having discovered Omid’s intentions, Aful sent Pallas after him in order to stop Omid from interfering with his plans, and puppeted her into cutting off Omid’s wings as he tried to escape and leaving his impaled body to bleed to death in the deep wilderness.
Dying and desperate, Omid broke the fundamental laws governing his world and committed the unheard of act of killing a god-- first incapacitating its physical form, and then consuming it in order to integrate their essence into one’s own form. This effectively saved him from death, but permanently changed him into a demon as a consequence.

Developed great self-loathing after his transformation, as well as deep bitterness towards his state of existence.
Vowed to stop Aful by his own hand in order to put the dead halcyon kingdom to rest.
Upon finding out that Pallas was still alive and had escaped the reach of Aful’s plans safely, he followed her tracks closely in order to ensure she remained safe and kept trying to bring up the courage to reveal that he had survived to her. Unfortunately, the bravery never came as each and every time he considered it, the idea was quickly shot down by his self-hatred.
Killed numerous dying gods after ascending to become a demon, which greatly strengthened him.
Never managed to talk to Aful, because Aful died by Lucia’s hand first. However, he arrived in time to sever Aful’s soul and collect it for safekeeping.
Reappeared in front of Pallas for the first and last time when the world’s collapse was imminent, in order to sever her soul. Brought along both Pallas and Aful’s souls to Earth when their realm collapsed, ensuring their souls’ continued existences.
Perhaps in an alternate dimension, he was driven insane by the burden of being a demon and instead of stopping Aful and helping him see reason, killed Aful himself and ate him, then used their combined power to single-handedly seal the fate of their world.

Notes:
Halcyon people: a civilization of winged humanoid beings who have a weak ability to harness the winds. More known for their unique ability to project their spirits in the form of fast-flying winged goats, which allows them to reliably deliver messages and packages over long distances. As such, many halcyons work as couriers or as part of merchant and trading alliances overseeing product transfers. The four older and distinguished families are said to carry the diluted blood of a god which sets them apart, as children of such bloodlines show remarkable endurance, enhanced recovery, and extremely long lifespans. The royal family itself produces nearly immortal children, capable of living for eons, and as such, monarchs often enjoy extremely long rules, marrying and reproducing towards the end of their lives solely to guarantee the existence of an heir. Halcyon nobles’ children grow at the same rate as regular children, but plateau once they reach maturity.
Gods: essentially immortal beings composed of a unique form of life essence that grants them their limitless power. Gods can only die in two ways: choosing to do so and passing their essence onto a chosen inheritor, or dying along with a dying world.
Following the beginning of the world’s collapse, some gods became susceptible to death at the hands of god-killers, at great cost to the killers themselves, who were often destroyed along with the god, or very rarely, turned into demons as consequences of the ultimate sin.
Demons: rare beings born of mysterious circumstances. Omid is the only demon known to have been born out of having been a god-killer, but others are rumored to have been born from events of great destruction, such as wars and similar catastrophes. Unlike gods, they do not die along with their worlds and are instead scattered about the universe to continue existing as contractors in new worlds.
Perhaps it was the fact that Omid carried the diluted blood of the gods in his veins that allowed him to kill the god and caused him to transform into a demon rather than die in the first place.
