Day Two Entry of WMM
SUMMARY: A short collection of Wanda's favorite memories from when you moved in together.
i. The Time A Chore Chart Was Needed
"Oh (Y/N)!" Wanda called from the kitchen, a smug sound in her voice as she laid the last plate in the sink. You jumped up from the couch and dashed towards the bedroom, knowing what was coming. "Its your turn to do dishes!"
"I'm getting ready for bed!" You called back. When you turned around she was standing in the door way.
"No, come on! It's your turn!" She insisted.
"No, it's not. I did them last time." Wanda pulled the, 'but I cooked' card, to which you replied she only heated up leftovers. She crossed her arms glaring at you.
"Rock paper scissors?" She asked and you scoffed. The things she would suggest to get out of doing dishes.
"No way princess. Get back to the kitchen." You teased, smacking her with a pillow. She rolled her eyes, tried to be mad but couldn't stop the laughter that bubbled past her lips.
"Cute, real cute. Anyway, I need to finish my book remember." Wanda insisted as she brushed past you to the bed. You grabbed the book off of the nightstand. She turned to look at you, eyes narrowed.
"Wanda, seriously though, it is your turn to wash dishes. You promised."
The two of you stared each other down a minute before she spoke up.
"I'll wash if you dry?" She offered.
So this turned out to be one of the worst suggestions she had. By time the dishes were done, both of your shirts were soaked and she kept throwing handfuls of bubbles at you. Both of you had gotten dish soap in your eyes and at one point Wanda screamed out as she stepped in a puddle of water, soaking her sock.
As the two of you stepped back, taking in the mess you had made while playing, you realized one of you would have to clean it up.
All at once, both of you yelled, "Not it!"
ii. Grocery Shopping for Two Without a List
"Hey honey, it's me." Wanda said after she heard the message tone. "I couldn't find the grocery list when I got to the store. Call me back so I don't forget anything." She sighed as she hung up, putting her phone with her wallet in the front of the cart.
She had made a partial list of things she thought was on the original; Eggs, bread, strawberries, some frozen pizzas, but she just couldn't get the full list to come back to her. She knew the fridge and cabinets were mostly empty, you hadn't been there long enough to properly grocery shop. As far as she knew the only thing even in the fridge at the moment was the bottle of moscato you had for dinner the night before.
She made her way slowly through the store, carefully analyzing each aisle, wondering if this item was on the list, if you would need it for something. She prayed you would call or text while she was out but she knew you were across town picking up stuff you would need for when classes started.
She backtracked as she passed the produce section, trying to decide if she should pick up some stuff for salad. "Fennel..." She read aloud the sign, trying to remember if you needed it. Something about the name clicked enough for her to decide it was worth a try.
When she got home, you met her in the kitchen to help unpack the groceries.
"Hey." She greeted you with a kiss. "Did you not get my voicemail?" She asked, concern lacing itself through her words.
"No, I must have forgot to check. What happened?"
"I lost the list. I think I got everything though, I can go back if I need to." She told you.
"Don't worry, anything you didn't get we can get later." She really hoped she wouldn't have to go back out again, it was hot as hell outside and she just wanted go lay down on the couch and watch tv.
You began unpacking bags, mentally placing checks on a list, she picked up the plastic bags and moved them to the closet.
"Well, um, I have no idea what this is or what I can do with it." You told her when you found the large vegetable that looked like an onion.
"It's fennel." She said like it made a difference. You laughed. "Was it not on the list?" She asked. You shook your head and told her you could probably find a use for it, if you could figure out how to store it that is.
"Did I forget anything?" She asked as you started putting up groceries, she noticed the exasperated look on your face.
"Oh, nothing too important. Just the milk and coffee." You laughed again as you heard Wanda curse under her breath in Sokovian.
iii. The First Time You Had Visitors Over for Dinner
"They'll be here any minute, are you ready?" Wanda asked as she rushed to the kitchen. "Zip me?" She asked as you shut the stove door. You turned, pulled up the zipper to her red dress.
"I need to go change can you watch the stove please." You asked as you rushed back to your shared room to change. "Which dress should I wear?" You called out to her.
"I like the purple one, the one you got for that party a couple months ago." You shoved clothes around your closet until you found it.
"I don't know, it looks too casual."
"Well, I mean, this is just Nat, Bucky, Sharon and Steve." She reminded you. You hummed as you scanned the closet for something you deemed fitting, until you decided to check Wanda's side of the closet.
"You ready? I set the table." Wanda told you as you rushed out of your room. She finally looked up at you when you came around the kitchen to check the timer on your phone.
When you turned around you paused, watching her back. "Do I look alright?" You asked her. She bit her lip and nodded.
"You look wonderful."
"Then what's wrong?" You asked trying to decipher the look on her face.
"Just stop and think for a second. We are having our closest friends over for a dinner that we made together in our brand new apartment." A smile broke out on your face and you laughed, Wanda joined in after a second. "Can you believe it?" She asked. "We- This- We are normal now."
You laughed again and rushed up to her to throw your arms around her, her arms wrapped around your waist, holding you close to her, for a second you two just stood there, mulling over your situation until you heard a loud knock on the door and a woman's voice saying, 'fix your collar dear, you look like Clark Kent'.
