King Alexander (Serb) declared himself to be a dictator and banned all political parties in June 1929.

Economy in 1920s=prosperous ...... Economy in 1930s=collapsed
prices collapsed.. workers and farmers suffered
1935 King was murdered in Marseilles as he was arriving to a state visit in France.
A Macedonian belonging from Croats revolutionary group in Hungary murdered him.
War with Hungary seemed inevitable.

Alexander's cousins Paul acted as a regent, compromised.
1935: political partied were allowed
1939: semi-federal system with 6 Croats

In 1939 when the international situation deteriorate, Y found itself with Axis powers.
