Prologue of Unrequited (Draft)

"But, [Name], won't it be awkward...?"

I raised an eyebrow, looking at him incredulously.

"Eh? Why would it be? You're just pretending I'm Rin."

Obito Uchiha bit his lip anxiously and looked at the ground as if it was the most interesting thing in the world. He started to have cold sweat running down his forehead as he blushed, clearly embarrassed.

I became impatient and grabbed him by the shoulders, roughly shaking him back and forth.

"Damn it, Obito! You're an Uchiha, act like one! Be a man for once in your life!"

A vein popped on Obito's forehead and his eyes comically became white. 

"Hey! Was that an insult?!"

I stopped shaking him and gave him an innocent close-eyed smile. "Think of it as motivation."

"Why you-" Obito started, preparing to lunge at me.

I sweat-dropped and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, keeping my smile. "So are we going to do this thing or what?"

Obito stopped and looked at me for a second and then reverted back to his flustered state making me sigh in exasperation.

"Listen here, Uchiha, I got an appointment to annoy Kakashi in about five minutes. If you don't make this quick, I will leave and not help you at all, you hear- Huh?"

Obito stood in front of me with soft caring eyes, full of admiration and love making me blink in surprise and take a step back.

"Rin..." he said gently, folding his hands behind his back timidly. "We've known each other since forever, and over the years I've begun to see you as something more than a friend...and I realized that I fell in love with you, so," he took his hand in mine and looked at me with a determined expression. "Please...be my girlfriend!" he cried, shutting his eyes tightly.

I gulped, knowing what Rin's answer would be.

She had rambled about her love for Kakashi many times when she would come over to my house to hang out.

Seeing Obito so determined to win her heart broke my own but...

Obito broke the act, pulling his hand from mine swiftly and grinned happily.

"How'd I do?"

When he was with her, he seemed so...happy.

I smiled softly. "You did great, Uchiha. You'll win her over for sure."

But, alas, everyone must feel pain at one point. There is no escape.
