1. Holden has a judgemental trait. For example, he always assumes everyone is "phony" and a bastard and never really tries to find more detailed characteristics of the person.

2. Through the book, Holden is fascinated with the idea of sex, so much that he wants to lose his virginity. He has very strong feelings that sex is supposed to be shared between two people who respect each other and hates the fact that it can be thrown around so casually.

3. He seems to be really good at reading and he even enjoys it but he fails at everything else. He might do well with reading stuff because his older brother was an author and he really enjoys his brothers work.

4. Holden has a developed understanding of his fears and what he wants but due to his trama, he wants to run away from it all.

5. A popular opinion is that Holden in some way shape or form may be gay due to his ideas on sex and how you should treat a woman. This might also explain why he's confused and always feeling "lonesome"

6. When he encounters a phony person, he automatically hates them. One example may be found within his relationships with Ackley.

7. Holden might have some form of PTSD, depression and social anxiety. He says often that's he's lonesome and even stated once "I felt so lonesome, all of a sudden. I almost wished I was dead." By the age of 17, he is admitted to some sort mental health ward due to complications. He seems very withdrawn from the world and in turn, we can infer that he has some forms of depression, PTSD from the deaths and social anxiety.
