Աղջկա խնդրանքը ծերուկը անմիջապես կատարեց, բերեց մի բաժակ պաղ ջուր և ձեռքը դնելով աղջկա ուսին, նրան ներս հրավիրեց:
Աղջիկը շուրջբոլորը նայելով նստեց գիրգ բազմոցին և ջուրը ագահաբար խմելով ծերուկին հարցրեց:
- Պապի ինձ կասես թե որտեղ կարող եմ գիշերել:
Ծերուկը զարմանքից հրճվեց և հարցրեց աղջնակին.
- Դու տուն չունես: Ինչպես ես հայտվել այս անտարբերությանը մատնված անտառում:
Աղջիկը ասաց.
-Ծերուկ ես տուն չունեմ: Ես ապրում էի կողքի անտառի մի փոքր խրճիթում, սակայն այն այրվեց, և ես հասցրեցի փախնել այնտեղից: Սկսեցի շրջել տնից տուն, անտառից անտառ, մինչև տեսա քո տնակը:
Ծերուկը աղջնակին հանգստացնելով ասաց, որ կարող է գիշերել այստեղ: Աղջիկը ուրախությամբ հարցրեց ծերուկին, թե որտեղ կարող է պառկել: Ծերուկը մատնանշեց ննջասենյակը, որը լցվել էր արևի կիզիչ ճառագայթներով:
Աղջիկը պառկեց բազմոցին, և արագորեն ննջեց: Իսկ ծերուկը նստեց բազմոցին և գլորվեց մտքերի խորը անդունդում: Ծերուկը ուրախ էր որ վերջապես կունենա երիտասարդ ուղեկից և այդ մտածմունքներից հանգստորեն ննջեց:
