Kamar rahasia atau disebut Chamber of Secret dibangun oleh Salazar di ruangan bawah tanah saat ia meninggalkan Hogwarts setelah keretakan hubungan dengan ketiga pendiri Hogwarts.
Diruangan sana Salazar menyimpan Basilisk yang ia rawat untuk mencapai keinginan nya yang ingin membersihkan Hogwarts dari Muggle dengan cara melepaskan Basilisk dari kamar rahasia.
Pintu masuk ruangan rahasia terletak di lantai dua, walaupun begitu tidak sembarang orang dapat masuk karena yang bisa membuka kamar ini harus memiliki kemampuan Parseltounge.
Tom Riddle pernah membuka kamar rahasia ini pada tahun 1993 dengan menggunakan Horcuxnya yang berupa buku harian. dan dengan memanfaatkan Ginny dengan maksud untuk menyerang para murid muggle namun itu bukan tujuan utamanya, karena Riddle ingin memancing Harry Potter ke kamar rahasia dan membunuhnya. Rencapanya berhasil, dan Harry harus berhadapan dengan Basilisk yang memiliki ukuran raksasa.
