Tipe-Tipe Tulisan Rahasia
Terdapat banyak tipe tulisan rahasia, termasuk sandi dan stegano (tulisan rahasia yang tersembunyi).
1. Kode dan Buku Kode
Kode-Kode tertentu dapat dipergunakan untuk mengganti kata atau kalimat. Biasanya dipilih yang singkat agar lebih efektif dan efisien.
Contoh:
Misalkan pesannya adalah “AWAS ADA DEMENTOR”. Misal pada buku kode tertulis daftar
Awas = Madu
Ada = Juga
Dementor = Barbie
Pesan rahasia yang kita dapatkan tertulis “MADU JUGA BARBIE”.
2. Steganografi
Steganografi, atau tulisan tersembunyi. Adalah metode menutup atau menyembunyikan tulisan dengan memakai tinta rahasia (invisible ink). Tulisan mini (yang sangat kecil sehingga harus dilihat menggunakan mikroskop). Tulisan ini sudah dikenal sejak masa Mesir kuno dan juga bangsa Yunani dan Romawi. Seperti dikembangkan oleh Marcus Tullius Tiro sekitar tahun 63 SM. Tulisan ini dikenal dengan sebutan NOTAE TIRONIANAE.

1. Sandi Abjad / Sandi Balik AZ
Kunci : A = Z atau Z = A, bisa juga ditulis a = z atau sebaliknya.
Contoh : JULIAN akan dituliskan menjadi QFORZM.

2. Sandi Abjad AN / Sandi Geser
Sandi ini digeser ke kiri maupun ke kanan, jika menulis A = N sebagai kuncinya, maka B = O, C = P, dan seterusnya.
JULIAN digeser menjadi WHYVNA, Sandi ini tidak terlalu sulit, dan hampir sama dengan sandi balik.
