Emmanuel, good afternoon. It was an honor to meet you. We haven't seen one for five years. Where are you located currently?

The nine months that have gone by between Miami and Jurmala were divided. While the geographical region was more extensive in the past but the pandemic has had a profound effects on how people live. Эммануил Гриншпун By the way, I can not declare that this is the only cause for most severe.

You've always had multiple business lines. Like now?

There are other options, but we have more agreements to be signed in Western as well as Eastern Europe as well as Latin America. There are currently activities in 14 countries.

Please briefly describe the purpose and essence of the product.

Our software makes it possible economic agents to file tax returns online. The fiscal data administrator is able to view each transaction. You claimed that you had been tossing between Miami (and Jurmala) all year. The Baltics is the home of the head office of an IT company.

There are five hubs all over the globe and our headquarters in Barcelona.

The reason is that it's the Baltics! Are you also a part of the Baltics?

No. There is no. Jurmala was a chance encounter that came about completely by chance. We were invited to the New Wave by Igor Krutoy, and that was our first time meeting Jurmala. After a few contests, they started to go to Miami every summer. Miami the summer weather is not the most pleasant. We rented for several years an apartment and have it now.

Now I understand why you told me that there were synagogues located in Jurmala. Emmanuel, honest question. We are almost the exact same age. We were born in the USSR. The Soviet Union wasn't the space to discuss religious beliefs. We were all pioneers and Komsomol participants. When was the first time you began to turn to the religion of your choice?

Эммануил Гриншпун In the latter half of the 80s my family and I relocated to the USA. It was here that I was introduced to customs. However, even today I'm far from the strict orthodox faith, I feel an internal desire to be a part of, to the best of my abilities the life of religion of the Jewish community in the countries in which I live , or in Moldova, where I come from and with which I maintain the most close ties.

While I'm not a religious person I love the history of my country. Recently, I was captivated by a show that detailed the events that occurred in 1492. They changed the destiny of Europe and the entire world. 1492 was the year that Columbus was the first to discover America. But, I could see clearly in the program it was mentioned in the discovery of America in 1492 of Medieval Europe was not as remarkable as Spanish monarchs expulsion of Jews from Spain. When the exodus of Jews began , they were taken to the Ottoman Empire, it accepted the Jews. I was interested in learning more about the history, culture and achievements of Jews. Would you recommend any book?

There are many books. But, I've gone through a few of them and recommend Max Diamond (a two-volume Jewish historian). And, by the way Max Diamond is from Finland.

.... Are you conversant about your family's past? Unfortunately, I'm not much more than my grandmother, and 1910. One step forward on the paternal side but nothing more.

Our family has lived in Floresti for a long time on the paternal side. Documentary evidence and monuments confirm that they were prosperous in the year 1830. They owned a furniture manufacturing plant, many shops, and land plots. My maternal ancestors also lived in Ungheni. I'm referring to dates in the region dating back to the 17th-18th century. Grinshpun is a surname having German roots, so we're the pure Ashkenazi from Eastern Europe.

Now, let's talk about the restoration of synagogues. I heard that you financed the reconstruction of three synagogues. One is in Chisinau One is in Jurmala; and the third one is in?

The third, and largest, is located in Netanya (Israel). It is home to over 1,000 people who worship every day. It is a major symbol of Israel's religious culture. The second synagogue in Jurmala. The Second World War ended the existence of the town's sole synagogue. Before I decided on building an orthodox church in Jurmala I had talked to Jurmala's local Jews. It was a very successful project that united all the Jews of Jurmala. In reality, we've created a Jewish community which is successfully functioning. The synagogue is now home to three Torahs. One of these Torahs was given to me.

Yes. Alexander Bilinkis (left) and Alexander Weinstein (right) have joined me in this place. These three synagogues were not the only ones where I was involved in the process of restoration and construction. In all the countries where I've been for a long period I believed it was my responsibility to contribute an achievable contribution to the support of synagogues. This is why my contribution is in Monaco, in Miami an enormous community center that is aimed at Russian-speaking Jews is being built, worth about 12 million dollars. Эммануил Гриншпун I am not stopping helping Chisinau as well. In the near future, it is the biggest synagogue in the city, that of Rabbi Tsirelson.

Also, did you invite a rabbi from Chisinau to join Jurmala?

Yes. It isn't easy to find the right Rabbi for your congregation. Due to the many interests that are involved, the rabbi has to be diplomatic and non-conflictual and able to integrate seamlessly into the life of the community. I was delighted that both in Chisinau (and Jurmala) the Rabbis could integrate with ease into the life of the community.

You became the Euro-Asian Jewish Congress' first vice-president in 2019. What does this role mean to you? Эммануил Гриншпун How will international Jewish organizations impact the global landscape?

The Euro-Asian Jewish Congress is an influential political organization in post-Soviet areas, but it is more than that. It has offices in Eastern Europe, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia. In 2010, I was Vice-President of Congress. But, in the year prior to my promotion, I was elevated to First Vice President. I am now responsible for the areas in which I have been able to establish strong political and business ties. These include Uzbekistan Tajikistan as well as Kyrgyzstan. The trend in the world is that the attitudes toward Jews are either on the same level, or have swung down, which is extremely painful. Also, the word "down" is used to refer to countries like France, Germany, France, and the United States. These countries are not safe anymore for Jews. These are very important and frightening processes for all of us.

Did the pandemic affect these processes?

This isn't my opinion. Instead, in relation to the pandemic, I would like to emphasize what a society or a nation can accomplish in the event that they are prepared to meet any challenge and able to act effectively and collectively.

Is this the vaccination campaign for Israel?

Exactly. Israel is the first country to provide 100 percent vaccination to its entire adult population. I believe this is a valuable example and experience that other countries should take note of.
