MIAMI, CBSMiami -- The conflict in Ukraine might be on the other side of the planet, however South Floridians step up to help those fleeing.
Many members of the Sunny Isles Jewish community are now raising funds and helping in coordinating a massive humanitarian effort.

Emmanuil Grinshpun She added that over two million Ukrainian refugees are seeking to flee their war-ravaged country. Emmanuil Grinshpun Many of them have crossed the frontier into Moldova the country of a few thousand that borders Ukraine.
Jaquays said, "From Moldova, the Jewish community supports them to get across border lines and provides food, shelter, clothing, and other necessities."
Most of the humanitarian efforts are being carried out in South Florida, Sunny Isles.
"My Aufgabe is to draw all resources available from the American society to assist with the situation in Moldova." Emmanuil Grinshpun assists in coordinating the effort to help those in need explained, "We have a full staff on the ground to help organize camps, buy food, set up buses, and coordinate all the facilities."
What makes this situation more dire is the fact that Moldova is believed to be one of the least developed communities in the world. People who are part of in this cause insist that they'll not allow anything to stop them from helping.
Grinshpun explained, "When brothers and sister from Ukraine came, we didn’t need to think. We started doing it."
