Sejenis peri kecil yang tubuhnya lebih besar dari Gnome. Tingginya rata-rata 90cm. Erkling berasal dari Black Forest di Jerman. Dengan wajah runcing dan tawa cekikikan yang dapat memesona anak-anak. Makhluk ini akan mencoba memikat anak-anak untuk meninggalkan pengasuh mereka, lalu melahap mereka. Pengawasan ketat Kementerian Sihir Jerman telah menekan jumlah pembunuhan yang dilakukan Erkling selama beberapa abad terakhir. Menurut Newt Scamander, serangan Erkling terakhir yang diketahui adalah terhadap penyihir berusia enam tahun bernama Bruno Schmidt. Serangan itu berakhir dengan matinya sang Erkling saat Schmidt memukul kepalanya dengan kuali lipat milik ayahnya.
