Life Movie Review not nearly as good
Life Movie, the model new Eddie Murphy-Martin Lawrence buddy comedy, is a surprisingly thoughtful film. It tackles critical matters just like the prison system and the effects of racism, while nonetheless being a movie that has you laughing out loud. The film additionally manages to find moments of actual heart and emotion in the midst of all of the silliness. It's a testament to both actors that they can keep the power up whereas addressing such difficult subjects.

A group of scientists on the International Space Station are on the slicing fringe of certainly one of humanity's best discoveries - the primary proof of extraterrestrial life. Unfortunately for them, that life form soon proves rather more clever than any of them may have imagined.

The premise of Life is an old one, but director Daniel Espinosa (Easy Money) manages to make it work. He gives the movie a bit of style and some truly horrifying body gore. And, most significantly, he makes positive that the tension by no means dies down. Despite the reality that Life suffers from an abundance of sci fi and horror tropes it's a tense, nail-biting thriller with some decent acting.

While not nearly as good as either Alien or Gravity, Life is a solidly entertaining film. This is mostly because of an excellent cast and a terrific rating from Jon Ekstrand. And, although the film has a couple of dialogue heavy scenes that do not quite work and it does really feel a bit like Alien lite, the motion is taught and the pace would not slow down.

As for the titular alien, it's a memorably disturbing monster. From its microscopic beginnings to the point where it's actually crushing bones, shoving issues down individuals's throats and digesting them in seconds, Calvin is a terrifying creature that's in a position to frighten audiences with a easy look. And the truth that the creature is so memorable could assist to explain why Life was seen by a predominantly black audience when I went to see it.


If you're a fan of outer-space films and have not already seen Passengers, then I would undoubtedly recommend trying out Life. It may not break any new floor, however an excellent solid, a tremendous rating and a few actually horrifying physique gore make it properly value your time. If nothing else, it's going to reaffirm your decision not to be an astronaut. And, who knows? Maybe sometime we'll get an opportunity to see a face-hugger vs. a mollusk battle royale in a future installment of this franchise. I can't wait. See it in theaters on April 22.
