When Danni Sanders (Zoey Deutch) fakes a visit to Paris in the hopes of garnering more Instagram clout, she doesn’t understand how much it could spiral out of control. In Not Okay, writer-director Quinn Shephard takes us contained in the attention-hungry, narcissistic hellscape of social media fame. ดูหนังฟรี ’s a dark comedy with a twist, directed by a blazing expertise who made her debut at age 23 with festival favourite Blame, a modern tackle Arthur Miller’s The Crucible that explored hefty themes with a sly sense of humor.


This film is a satire of our culture’s obsession with celebrity and the methods by which we mistranslate real-life trauma into online virality and private adoration. Shephard shrewdly avoids a facile characterization of the “victim” as both the narcissistic fame seeker or the trolling, violence-threatening haters. Instead, she reveals a lady who is each.

Shephard makes sure that we’re by no means completely on board with Danni, who is a shallow, self-centered opportunist who believes the world owes her every little thing. She’s also a sufferer of her personal creation, a fawning cult that she created via an insatiable longing for validation and the dopamine hit of each new like on her Instagram tales.

Yet, Shephard’s script and Deutch’s efficiency infuse the character with empathy. Anyone who’s hung out on social media knows the seductive pull of a like with a blue checkmark, the dopamine hit of accumulating followers, and the anxious weight of the “seen by” record. Even the scene by which Danni hooks up with Rowan, a school capturing survivor obsessive about societal change and whose trauma she appropriated for her personal, feels acquainted.

With a solid that features Dylan O’Brien, Mia Isaac, Embeth Davidtz, and Negin Farsad, Not Okay is a gleaming look into the rights and wrongs of influencer culture. Zoey Deutch is the real deal as this narcissistic, manipulative determine, utilizing her charisma and comedian chops to show the vulnerability beneath all of her bluster.
