What is WiFi calling?
Overview
Have you found yourself in a situation where you have access to WiFi, but not cellular service? That’s when WiFi calling comes in. It’s a feature offered on most devices on Xfinity Mobile that allows you to talk and text over a WiFi network if cellular service isn't available.

WiFi calling is helpful to have for a few reasons.

It extends the network coverage area for call and text, especially if you're in a region with poor cellular coverage.
It's easy to set up. There's no need to download an app or log in to your Xfinity Mobile account. Once you have it enabled, it just works.
WiFi calling becomes even more useful when you're traveling internationally. You can use it to call and send text messages to U.S. numbers for free when you're in another country, saving you international long distance charges.
WiFi calling with Xfinity Mobile expands your reach, helping you communicate from more locations in the U.S. and abroad. Whether you're inside a building with weak cellular service or on an overseas trip, WiFi calling has you covered.

Devices with WiFi calling
WiFi calling is available on all Xfinity Mobile devices except the following:

Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge
Motorola moto e5 play
iPad
WiFi calling cost
Calling U.S. numbers:

WiFi calling is available at no extra charge when you call U.S. numbers from anywhere in the world.
You use WiFi data for WiFi calling, and charges may apply through the WiFi service provider.
This is most applicable when you're in an international location.
For example, if you're paying to use WiFi in a hotel, you'll still be charged for that WiFi data when you're on a WiFi call.
Calling international numbers:

WiFi calls international numbers are billed at International Long Distance rates.
Calls to premium numbers are billed separately.

911 calls for people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a hearing or speech disability
Due to potential technical limitations with TTY calls over WiFi or LTE, Xfinity Mobile recommends that TTY devices not be used to make 911 calls.

People with communications disabilities can reach 911 by using telecommunications relay services such as IP relay, video relay, or IP captioned telephone service. In areas where texting to 911 is available, customers can text 911 directly from their wireless device or call 911 using real-time text (RTT) on RTT-capable handsets.

Bringing your phone number with you?
If you want to keep your current phone number, you can do so when joining Xfinity Mobile. We accept phone numbers from all carriers. You’ll just need some account details from your previous carrier, including:

Your account number.
A transfer PIN (one PIN per account).
The account holder’s name.
The last four digits of the account holder’s Social Security number (SSN).
The account billing address.
Confirmation that the account isn't locked.

If you're having trouble locating this information, find the contact information for your previous carrier and get in touch with them.

Note: Customers who bring their own smartwatch or iPad aren't eligible to port their number at this time.
How to make the switch
Check your compatibility
To BYOD to Xfinity Mobile, it needs to be compatible with our network.

Most iPhones, Samsung Galaxy phones, and Google Pixel phones are compatible with Xfinity Mobile.
Motorola and LG phones originally purchased from Xfinity Mobile are also compatible.
Most iPads are compatible with Xfinity Mobile if they can be activated with a nanoSIM (physical SIM card) and have been updated to the latest version of iPad OS prior to activation.
You may bring your smartwatch if it is equipped with the most recent version of its operating system for Apple or Samsung.
Galaxy Watch5 and Apple Watch Series 8 are examples of devices that are compatible with the Xfinity Mobile network.
Check your smartwatch's compatibility.

To find out if your device is compatible, answer a few quick questions and then enter your IMEI, which is your device's unique ID that'll help us determine if your device will work with Xfinity Mobile. We'll walk you through each step. Checking your device's compatibility doesn't mean you're signing up for Xfinity Mobile.

Make sure your device is unlocked
In addition to being compatible, your device also needs to be unlocked. Carriers often lock the devices they sell so they won't work on other networks. Your device may also be locked if you still owe money on it, but you can usually unlock your device once you've paid it off.

Check with your current carrier if you aren't sure.

Apple users must complete a backup and factory reset after the previous carrier confirms that they have unlocked the device.

Get a SIM card
An Xfinity Mobile SIM card is the key to activating your device on the Xfinity Mobile network.

If you already have an Xfinity Mobile nanoSIM (physical SIM) card or purchased an eSIM-compatible device, simply log in to your account and visit the Devices page to set up your device on an existing Xfinity Mobile line.
You can also order a nanoSIM card online.
If you’re new to Xfinity Mobile, billing for your line will begin either when your SIM card (nanoSIM or eSIM) is activated or seven days after your nanoSIM card ships, whichever is sooner.
If you’re adding a line to an existing Xfinity Mobile account, billing for the line will begin immediately when your eSIM is activated or when your nanoSIM card order is placed, whether the nanoSIM card is activated or not.

Choose your data option
You’re free to choose from either of our data options, By the Gig or Unlimited, when you BYOD to Xfinity Mobile.

By the Gig starts at 1GB for $15 per month and can be shared with other lines on your account.
Unlimited data for as low as $30 per month per line when you have at least two lines on your account.
To get multi-line Unlimited pricing, you’ll need to be on our latest plan.
Upgrade your plan by heading to:
Your account online.
The Xfinity app.
When you BYOD to Xfinity Mobile, your first monthly bill for that line will include a $10 one-time line setup fee. Each active tablet will be charged a $10 monthly recurring tablet line fee on the Xfinity Mobile account. Smartwatches will be charged a $10 monthly smartwatch fee.

Additionally, smartwatches will need to be paired with an applicable phone and data used by the smartwatch is counted towards the host phone’s data.
